TIANJIN, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Authorities from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region provided more than 300 internships and job opportunities to Taiwan compatriots at a job fair held Friday in northern China's Tianjin Municipality.

The job fair attracted more than 50 Taiwan job hunters and 19 companies, including Tianjin (Binhai) Offshore Entrepreneurial Base for Overseas Professionals, Career International and Unicloud.com.

Yu Jiaqing, director of Tianjin Human Resources Development Service Center of China, said these internships and job opportunities involved fields including technology, finance, marketing and management.

Tianjin Human Resources Development Service Center of China was designated as a base of internship and employment for Taiwan compatriots and a liaison office for cross-Strait public affairs at the job fair, according to Tianjin's Taiwan Affairs Office.

"We're looking for two or three Taiwanese advertising copywriters and would like to offer a monthly salary of 10,000 yuan (about 1,454 U.S. dollars) or above to attract more talent from Taiwan," said Li Guomao, operations director of Tianjin (Binhai) Offshore Entrepreneurial Base for Overseas Professionals.

Feng Tzung-lin, who works for a Tianjin-based, Taiwan-funded company specializing in training models and actors, said his company has employed more than 10 teachers from Taiwan, accounting for about half of the company's staff.

"The job fair is a platform for meeting more job seekers from Taiwan, and we hope to offer them more internships and jobs," Feng said.

Chou Yi-jung, a Taiwan student from the School of Civil Engineering at Tianjin University, came to the fair to learn about the job opportunities for Taiwan compatriots. "The mainland has a big market with immense opportunities. I hope to find a creative job on the mainland in the future."

In February 2018, the mainland unveiled a spate of preferential policies for Taiwan compatriots, covering a wide range of fields including employment, education, industry, finance and taxation, land use and health care.

Yu Weizhong, deputy director of Tianjin's Taiwan Affairs Office, said more than 100 Taiwan students studied in more than ten Tianjin universities and more than 20 Taiwan compatriots worked as teachers in six universities in Tianjin in 2018.

The job fair for Taiwan compatriots was one of the most important parts of an ongoing Tianjin-Taiwan trade fair.
