SYDNEY, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The world's longest Chinese Dragon, Dai Gum Loong, has previewed in the Australian town of Bendigo where it will highlight the upcoming Easter Festival celebrations.

Measuring around 120 meters, the dragon was hand-made in Hong Kong by Master Hui and features more than 7,000 scales, traditional painting and weaving methods, and natural materials such as bamboo and silk.

Dai Gum Loong will take over from predecessor, Sun Loong, which measures 100 meters long and will soon be retired to a local museum having served in the parade for 49 years.

"Bendigo has been a vibrant home for the Chinese community for more than 150 years," Victorian state Premier Daniel Andrews said.

"As the longest dragon in the world, Dai Gum Loong will attract visitors, boost local jobs and ensure the Chinese community's proud history in Bendigo lives on."

The new dragon will officially debut in the late April parade, marching alongside Sun Loong as a symbol of the passing on of duties.
