China's Zhang Kexin among some youngest athletes at PyeongChang Olympics

          PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's 15-year-old freestyle skier Zhang Kexin will be one of the youngest athletes to compete at the PyeongChang Olympic Games to open here on Friday.

          Zhang, who was born on June 5, 2002, will be joined by South Korea's Kim Han-Neul, Russia's Alina Zagitova, Sweden's Jenny Lee Bureumanson and Japan's Gunitake Hiroaki, who were all born in the same year.

          Zhang became the second-youngest female freestyle skier from any nation to win a World Cup halfpipe gold medal last year at age 15 years and 200 days.

          The oldest athlete at the PyeongChang Olympic Games is Canada's 52-year-old Cheryl Bernard, who won the silver medal in women's curling in Vancouver at 2010, making the age gap between the oldest and the youngest athlete 36 years old.

          The athlete with the most Olympic Winter Games medals is Norway's cross-country skier Marit Bjoergen. The 37-year-old achieved the triple-crown in both Vancouver and Sochi Winter Games and holds 10 medals, including six golds, three silvers and one bronze. She also won 112 World Cup victories and 18 World Championships titles.

          If she wins a medal in PyeongChang, she will be the most decorated female athlete in Winter Olympic history.
