TEHRAN, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Friday held military parades across the country to mark its National Army Day.
In the capital Tehran, a parade was attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Baqeri, Chief Commander of the Iranian Army Abdolrahim Mousavi, and other military commanders.
During the parade, homegrown military gear, including drones and missiles, was displayed.
In the country's southern waters, a naval parade was staged concurrently, showcasing a number of navy vessels, including domestically-developed destroyers and submarines, the official news agency IRNA reported.
Speaking at the ceremony in Tehran, Pezeshkian highlighted the armed forces' role in ensuring the country's internal stability and security as well as its honor and dignity in the West Asia region, according to a statement published on the website of his office.
Iran celebrates the National Army Day annually on the 29th of the first month of the Iranian calendar year, which falls on April 18 this year. ■
