Urgent: 5.7-magnitude quake hits northern Chile -- GFZ

BEIJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 jolted northern Chile at 0010 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 178.3 km, was initially determined to be at 23.63 degrees south latitude and 68.25 degrees west longitude. ■
