SINGAPORE, April 5 (Xinhua) -- A flight from the Singaporean airline Scoot heading for Hat Yai, Thailand, returned to Singapore's Changi Airport Thursday afternoon after an alleged bomb threat was reported.

Flight TR634, which left Changi Airport at 1:20 p.m. local time, was escorted back by two fighter jets of the Singapore Air Force.

Scoot said in a statement that the aircraft landed safely at 3: 23 p.m. local time.

"We're working closely with the authorities for necessary follow-up to ensure the safety of our guests," said the airline.

The police confirmed that a report was received regarding an alleged bomb threat made by a passenger on board the flight.

Singaporean Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said in his facebook post that two F-15SGs took off within minutes when the pilot of the Scoot plane declared a bomb threat and closely escorted the Scoot plane back. The Singapore Police Force is investigating the incident.

He pointed out that every threat is considered real until proven otherwise.

Scoot is a low-cost airline owned by Singapore Airlines.
